Our experience is deep and varied including:

  • Developing and implementing funding and investment strategies
  • Preparation for and execution of risk transfer strategies via insurance and consolidation
  • Run-off strategies
  • Corporate transactions and restructuring
  • Design and implementation of asset back funding and contingent assets
  • Interaction with the Pensions Regulator
  • Improving decision making
  • Effective governance frameworks
  • Conflict management
  • Management and review of advisers

The Chair ensures the effective functioning of the Board and an open and collaborative relationship with the sponsor while serving the best interest of members.

Our Trustee Directors have significant experience in this role and have a strong ability to guide discussions and facilitate decision making, ensuring all voices are heard and driving consensus and positive outcomes. With fresh ideas and a proactive approach, we lead the Board in developing and executing strategies whilst upholding the highest standards of governance. Sponsors and schemes can trust an independent and capable safe pair of hands is steering the ship.

A co-trustee brings complementary skills and broadens knowledge across the Board. Offering alternate perspectives, challenge and fresh innovative thinking to foster a team environment that works seamless with the Board and all stakeholders.

Our Partners bring enthusiasm and commitment, drive by a genuine passion to achieve results. As strategic thinkers we share our knowledge and best practices to help trustees and sponsors identify the right solutions and implement them effectively.

A professional corporate sole trustee replaces the trustee board with a single entity. An attractive model to sponsors feeling the pressure of increasing regulatory burden and management time and cost.

We recognise the importance of protecting members' interests and adhere to the Code of Practice for Professional Corporate Sole Trustees (PCSTs). This commitment ensures we maintain robust governance and risk controls.

Our processes, in conjunction with the technology we use, lay a strong foundation for delivering high-quality and efficient sole trusteeship, ensuring members, schemes and sponsors achieve the best possible outcomes.

Our Trustee Directors are fully accredited and work closely together on all aspects of sole trusteeship – ensuring diversity of thought and proactive trusteeship. The client relationship will be held by the lead Trustee Director with the second Trustee Director providing strategic and technical peer review, serving as a sounding board throughout the decision making process. Should the lead Trustee Director be unavailable for any reason, the second Trustee Director will be readily available to step in.

We work closely with sponsors to understand their decision to move to sole trusteeship. By sharing our experience and insights from previous transitions, we ensure a smooth process and effective communication with the trustee board and members.

Our depth of experience, combined with our ability to work seamlessly with scheme and company advisers, allows us to deliver services and execute strategies cost effectively without compromising quality or innovation.

The purpose-built technology that we use at Aretas encompasses all the necessary elements required for pension scheme governance integrated into a single platform. It provides robust support for decision-making and procedures, facilitating all strategic, governance related and operational tasks, including appointment and review of advisers, conflicts management, oversight of fees, and assurance reporting.
